Yes! You can import a PDF copy of a prior-year tax return when starting a new return in Ramsey SmartTax. You must choose the PDF import option when you first create and begin your tax return for the year.
If you skip the PDF import step during setup, you will not be able to return later and import the file into that same return.
SmartTax currently supports standard Form 1040 and Form 1040-SR PDF files. Importing a prior-year return can save time by automatically bringing over certain personal information instead of entering it manually.
After the import, you can decide how much of the imported information you'd like to keep.
- Use all imported information
- Use only selected items
- Remove imported information and enter it manually
